Excerpt from journal entry dated Sept 19th, 2004:

I'm sitting in the HOTEL DEL VILLE (mayor's office) hallway/roomwhich was conveniently transformed into "my office". The town is awake outside, kids are playing and screaming, cars are buzzing by on the "goudron", the metal workers are cutting pieces of metal to build objects with, the imam in the mosque is chanting in the loud speakers, the donkeys are being hit and yelled at so that they can pull their carts along faster... and the men are conveniently ignoring me during the greeting phase as they enter the "beladiye"(mayor's office).

There's a faint cool breeze blowing across the room... the only thing caressing my kin with comfort: I miss being touched.
