2004-12-28 - 4:31 p.m.

In the excitement of finally being able to show my pictures to the world my sister and I managed to lose the contents of one whole memory card (about 300 pics!!!)... but I was still filled with such "Mauritanian peace and philosophy" that I surprised myself with how well I reacted... I definitely didn't lose it like I would have otherwise done pre-Mauritania!

I then added the 600+ pictures that were left... before deciding to spare you all from the boredom and went through them one more time selecting a much smaller number to be shown online! THEY'RE UP!!! Al-hamdullillah!

XMas passed and was great, it is wonderful to be home with family and friends and get a "refuel" of Western abundance... although I must admit I do miss all my fellow Magta Lahjarians and the heat is more bearable than the freezing snow, rain, and cold wind!!

To make my visit a little more interesting I came down with some sort of (as my Peace Corps doctor put it in email) "infectious dhiarrea that could be caused by bacteria, Giardia, or amoeba"! So now I am on a three-day cure that cannot be mixed with any alcohol before, during and after it... which means I might have to skip the spumante on New Year's Eve!!! Oh well... at least it will get rid of the bloody mucus in my stool, the cramps, the dizziness, nausea, occasional vomiting and fever!!!
SORRY FOR THE GRAPHICS... the African runs finally came! :-p
